Whetu Whenu Whenua

FOR LOPDELL HOUSE GALLERY

Designed in 2013 to accompany an exhibition presented in celebration of Matariki, the Whetu Whenu Whenua catalogue was a joy to design. The exhibition acknowledged the threads that connect us as a community, the community to the land, and the traditional to the contemporary. It was a celebration of the art of mahi raranga (weaving activities), whatu (fibre weaving) and tukutuku (wall panel lattice work. I designed the catalogue to interweave and carefully unfurl to reveal an image of each artist's work with each panel. Once the catalogue had been unfolded, the essay can be read on the inside panel.
