Emily Karaka's Matariki Ring of Fire publication was designed and completed in June to accompany Karaka's exhibition at Te Uru Waitākere Contemporary Gallery. The book showcases Karaka's 2022 series of paintings, which include depictions of 14 of Auckland's tūpuna maunga (photographed by Sam Hartnett) - and is introduced and accompanied by writing by Te Warena Taua, Ngāhuia te Awekōtuku and Andrew Clifford.

It was a pleasure working with and for Emily, who is one of my most-admired New Zealand painters.
